You should apply our Best Cutting Board Wax to your cutting board every few months. This seals the wood, preventing it from absorbing odors and moisture which can potentially lead to mold growth and stains. Simply rub on a generous amount of product to the entire board with the corner of a clean cloth, allowing it to soak in for 2 to 12 hours before wiping away any excess. Vigorously rub the board with a clean cloth in a circular motion to remove streaks and achieve a nice shine. If some areas of the board seem dull or “dry”, repeat the process with ample product applied to the areas in question.
Important Care Tips. If you are not sure if your board needs wax, put a few drops of water on it. If the water beads, it is fine. If the water disperses or soaks in, the board needs wax. A new board may need waxing more frequently than an older board, check bi-weekly for the first month. Always store your wooden cutting board in a dry place, away from heat or direct sunlight to preserve its integrity and color. With proper care, your wooden cutting board will last for many years, and with refinishing – it can last for decades.
